Hourly Charge rate when Training on behalf of a Client

Hi Everyone,

Quick question - if you were to undertake a training day on behalf of an organisation with which you are working (to better understand the environment in which they/you work in), would you reduce your normal bookeeping hourly rate?

With thanks for any helpful responses.

Hey, here are my thoughts on this, The approach to hourly rates in this scenario can depend on several factors.

Firstly, consider the nature of the training. If it directly aligns with your core services and expertise, maintaining your standard hourly rate may be appropriate. Your specialised knowledge and skills warrant fair compensation for providing valuable training.

Secondly, evaluate your relationship with the client. If the training is part of a broader collaboration or partnership, discussing the terms with the client can help establish a mutually beneficial arrangement.

Additionally, think about the long-term value of the training for both parties. If the insights gained contribute significantly to your understanding of the client's environment and have the potential to enhance future collaboration, viewing it as an investment may be reasonable.

Negotiation and open communication are crucial in such situations. Discussing your rates with the client and finding a mutually agreeable arrangement that considers the specific context of the training can be beneficial.

Ultimately, the decision should align with your overall business strategy, the value you bring to the training, and the dynamics of your relationship with the client. It's a nuanced situation, and finding a solution that works for both parties is key. If you have any additional details to share, I'd be happy to provide further assistance.
