NEEDING ADVICE

Hi
I am an international student currently studying an MBA at the London School of Commerce.  I have a Bsc. in Accounting and have had working experience in bookkeeping for during the last two years. I have worked with sage line 50 and quickbooks pro 2008. I am also convenient working with online bookkeeping software like www.numia.biz

I am looking forward to getting involved in any bookkeeping role that will enable me integrate into the UK bookkeeping environment, and at the same time support me during my two years of stay in the UK.

Currently i do not mind getting into some voluntary service provided the work is within the area where i live (Dartford) or were cost of transport will be minimal.

I need advice on the feasibility of my integration. Must I pursue a professional bookkeeping qualification? Or if at all it is possible for me to get going with my present qualification and experience, what is de next step to take to get myself a bookkeeping job to start with?

Hi, you say you are happy to be involved with 'voluntary' work. There are countless clubs and societies that are always looking for new members/volunteers, especially those who fancy taking on the role of treasurer. That is one route if you want to get involved with bookkeeping in some way in the UK.

Hi Quentin
thanks for your reply. these clubs and societies may be numerous here but I still find it difficult to figure them out - maybe its because I am still new and don't even know much around. I would be grateful you could just name a few.

I have subscribed to your Accounting for Everyone Bookkeeping Guide at www.accountingforeveryone.com and i must admit it's awesome. Glad to meet someone like you

Thank you :) Go to your local library and ask about local societies. They will supply you with a list. The next step is to join one that is of interest to you. I wish you the best of luck.
