Directors NICs exact percentage method

Hi guys

I've been doing a course on payroll using sage instant payroll and i'm about to send off for the exam once i finish this mock exam. I am trying to set up a director using the exact percentage method and would like some advice on how to do this.

What i've done is in the employees details tab i have ticked the Manual NI box. From there i have used the exact percentage method to work out how much NI he is due to pay and entered this figure into the National Insurance box. I then go to print a Processing Summary NIC report and under the column NI'able Earnings it has 0.00, Employee and Employer NI contribution it only has the employees contribution and the Employer NI contribution also has 0.00.

Is this right because we never covered the exact percentage method using the computer. We only did it manually.

Directors pay NI on a cumulative basis, is it the table method that youre referring to?
