Start date for new sole trader

Hi

I have just received my ML registration and now intend to start trading and advertising my business.
Would it be best to start trading as a sole trader from 6th Apr 09 to coincide with the tax year? I need to give a start date when I register my business.

Also can anyone recommend insurance companies for PII insurance.

Many thanks

Dom

Hi Dom,

I would personally start now particularly if you have any clients or think you may gain your first client withini the next 5 weeks ! But I can understand your reasons for waiting for 6Apr09.

Insurance companies - I would suggest www.trafalgar.co.uk, they provide cover for ICB, AAT etc., members - worth having a look at.

Good luck with your new business - dispite this `credit crunch` I have had a few more enquiries, taken on a couple of new clients who are keen to get their books in order to free up more of their time in running their businesses, so now would seem like a good time to starting trading.

Julie
