Christmas Party !

Hi All,

I was wondering what everyone was doing for their works `Christmas Party`, whether you are working solo, like me  or employed for a company ?

This is my first year in which I will be the only guest at my party  - Ive put up my mini christmas tree, arranged some tinsel around my computer screen and hung up my stocking.....   

Last Christmas the company I was working for treated us all to a Sayers meat pie followed by mince pie and mug of tea !  The previous year we were treated to curry, rice and chips - yum yum.  My boss had the cheek to draw out £450 against christmas entertainment, I never knew party hats and poppers were so expensive. 

How can I possibly top such extravagance this year !

I have been working on my own for 8 years now and only in the last couple of years has one of my clients invited me out with them.  A lot of mine are very small businesses and i don't think they do anything no

My husband works for himself too and on a few occasions we had a joint Christmas party, or was it just an excuse for the pair of us to go out for dinner smile

Just this year i joined 2 networking groups and they have Christmas do's too, one of them i can't go to and the other was last week.

Is a Sayers meat pie nice!?!?!?!

Hi Angela,

What a nice customer you have to invite you out on their party.

Im not knocking Sayers for their outstanding pies etc., but when the company you worked for had done exceptionally well, and you have put in extra hours (unpaid) you expect a little more !

Anyway, I have planned a joint party with my husband for this weekend, party poppers here I come !

Hi Julie and other fellow loners!
This too is my first year working on my lonesome, last year there was the corporate xmas to enjoy, looking forward to the boss letting us out early (will they-won't they!)
 
I must say that being in that environment made me feel much more Christmassy, but the big benefit this time is that I can do the xmas shopping on week days and just divert my office phone to the mobile (he he!)

Hi Jan,

It certainly is different when working for yourself, that `will they, wont they`, I remember only too well.

I called into my previous employer earlier today to wish him all the best, no hard feelings etc., I also could not resist rubbing in the fact that leaving full time employment was the best move I had made (very childish I know, but put a smile on my face). Anyway, my ex fellow colleagues are working right up to 5pm on Christmas Eve ! Did`nt have the heart to say that Ive finished until the New Year.
