Registration to offer book keeping services

Hi
I wonder if anyone can advise - I am currently studying for ICB level1 and once finished would like to offer services setting up peoples day books, reconciliations etc whilst studying for ICB level2 . My problem is I know that you have to be registered now to offer book-keeping services on a self employed basis and am not quite sure what qualifies as book-keeping services. If I was to offer the services of day books and reconciliations surely this would only be admin services and not book-keeping, thus negating the need for registration. Would this go as far as books to trail balance.
Please could someone clarify I would not like to offer anything that would cause problems with the authorities

I don,t know whether this helps but if you do not have a practising certificate with one of the bodies, such as ICB, AAT etc. you can register direct with HMRC to enable you to offer services as a book-keeper. It costs £95 to register.

Good luck,
Corinne
