New nominal ledger for electric charging

Hello, I need to create a new nominal ledger for electric charging. I'm using Sage accounting. Should I create it alongside all the other motoring expenses? 7305 is available.

Hi Nicky,

That sounds like the perfect place. 7305 - Electric vehicle charging costs.

Kind regards,

Ian

When setting up a new nominal ledger for electric charging it's worth considering whether it should be integrated into the existing motoring expenses category (7305) or if a separate ledger would be more beneficial. Creating a dedicated ledger for electric charging offers advantages such as enhanced visibility, detailed reporting, and ease of identification. This separation allows you to better monitor and analyse the specific costs associated with electric charging, providing a clearer financial picture. It also facilitates more detailed reporting, aiding in budgeting, expense analysis, and trend identification related specifically to electric charging costs. This approach simplifies reconciliation, ensuring accuracy in financial records. However, the decision ultimately depends on your organisation's accounting practices and reporting needs. If the existing motoring expenses category serves your purposes adequately and the distinction of electric charging expenses isn't crucial, using the available code (7305) may be a practical choice, ensuring your accounting setup aligns with your business's unique needs and preferences.
