Software for Managing Workload

Hi,

being relatively new to freelancing I've been managing my workload using good old paper & Excel, but I'm getting busier (thankfully!).  I've used Trello in the past but I know there's a whole raft of software available out there - any recommendations?  Is Monday.com any good?

Hi Eva,

Excel can actually do anything. As the Leila Gharani T shirt says. "Excel can do it... Whats the question".

You don't really say what it is you are attempting to manage? Is it a lot of people? Finances? Project Management?

There is software such as MS Project but that could be using a sledgehammer to crack a nut. But, it's the industry standard so expected knowledge at many sites. Although, it can't do anything that Excel can't do, it is a pre configured solutionthat you can use straight out of the box for what you want.

Personally I would use Excel though. The key to using it is to lose the idea of it being a spreadsheet and instead see it as a development platform.... Its the Lego set of software in that it can be absolutely anything that you want it to be.... But I might be biased! developing Excel based solutions for major multinationals pays my mortgage. :)

Hi Shaun,

thank you, I too am a big Excel fan and am using it to keep track of time across clients. Trello is good for listing out tasks and ticking them off as you go but I was wondering if there was an off the shelf package that would do everything in one! It might well be that what I'm currently doing is just right. MS Project would definitely be too much for me although it might be a useful tool to learn.
