Monthly VAT Returns and Due Date

I have been moved to the the Monthly VAT return filing by HMRC. So my last return was quarterly and finished end of April 21 and I've already submitted it. The due date is 7th of June, which is the 1 month and 7 days from the end of April. If I am due a return, will that not happen until the due date has passed or will it be when the review is complete sometime in May? I've looked for an answer within HMRC and nothing jumps out at me. Also, why are they asking for my May return now and the month has just started? Even if I know my figures, they wouldn't pay early would they?

The April return is due 7th June and the May return is due 7th July. If you are due a rebate then they are usually issued within 30 days of receiving the completed return, no matter how far through the filing period you submit it.
