The state of bookkeeping 2019

From Accounting Today (Thats "Accounting Today", not "Accounting" today which is a different publication).

The UK and US markets are very sililar so this is applicable.

https://www.accountingtoday.com/list/the-state-of-bookkeeping-in-2019?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=ACT_DAILY%2B%27-%27%2B06282019&bt_ee=aN%2BFhvMNaCh48A79qHNyuJ%2BXYSOwZ0tjpX2De7CsghMF7F7Itr8Vw78m9xmeT5h0&bt_ts=1561715790554

Thought that you might find it interesting

Also for anyone who hasn't seen it the latest key facts and trends document (which now includes the AAT) :

https://www.frc.org.uk/getattachment/27725654-8bd9-4623-a410-ef1661a69649/Key-Facts-and-Trends-2018.pdf

Have fun reading those.

Shaun.

Gosh, one of those alone is 65 pages!

Would love to have the time to read such, but sorry got no chance as in the midst of very silly VAT season.

Might try over the weekend if it gets too hot to sit in the paddling pool.  , oops sorry I mean garden. The pool is W&E for the business.

Thoughts are my own/not to be regarded as official advice, which should be sought from a suitably qualified Accountant.

You should check out answers with reference to the legal position

Had to laugh when a client asked me if he could his hot tub through the business.  Think he was hoping I would say yes!

Hi John,

I guess he may have tried to put his gym fees through maybe, my rouges gallery of those trying to creep through `business` expenditure are :-

Construction labourer - gym fees plus hot tub - need to keep fit for work then relax in tub to soothe aching joints.

Landscape gardener - full sky package so he can keep up with weather news.

Project manager - golf fees plus spends at 18th hole as all business deals are on the golf course - apparently.

Getting into the mindset of customers is just as appealing as balancing their books !!
