Simply Accounts Software

Really do not like the prices or the applications of cloud software and some of my clients do not even have an internet connection (by choice) so trawling around for suitable accounts packages for MTD vat.  Has anyone used Simply Accounts which is listed under theHMRC list of approved.  There is a free trial but just wondered if anyone had any experience with the package.

I looked and downloaded trial version of Moneysoft Money Manager but was not impressed, although think their payroll is great.

I use Xero and Sage at other clients.

Thoughts are my own/not to be regarded as official advice, which should be sought from a suitably qualified Accountant.

You should check out answers with reference to the legal position

I've never used Simply Accounts but just out of interest, what do you use now for them?

EDIT:  I've just had a look and its £79 + VAT for one company.  Would suggest you look at VTT+.  Its £75 + VAT for the MTD version with unlimited Companies.  You could give the cash book (free)  to your clients and pick them back up once a quarter.  As long as you use a penstick to transfer the data that would be fine. If you're doing the bookkeeping even better.

Thank you, I will. I am currently using the trial version of Simply Accounts always takes time to get your head around things. Does VTT+ show debtors and creditors or is it just cash based? I found the web page a little basic on information.

You're welcome. Yes it does, very well. You can see in a couple of clicks the outstanding amounts of each debtor and creditor.  I would suggest you download a trial version (60 days) and have a play.  I've used it for years and I love it.
