Online Advanced Bookkeeping training for a person with AAT Level 3 passed

Dear All,

thank you for maintaining this forum.

My wife passed last year the AAT Level 3 certification and started to work in a big company in Wiltshire. She has been recently offered to take part of the Bookkeeping department but they asked her to get an Advanced Bookkeeping training asap to bring herself up to date with that subject to be able to start to work smoothly.

Would you be so kind to recommend an online course for her?

Thank you very much in advance.

Kind regards

Hi Ivan
Why cant she ask the Q herself?

She really needs to ask them specifically what they want her to do otherwise she could be doing the wrong thing, although I suspect they mean the AAT level 4.  The Advanced is level 3 is it not?

Will they sponsor her on the course?

Edited to add the level3 advanced bit!

Dear Cheshire,

thank you for your prompt reaction.

Totally agree with your comment, she would like to ask herself but she didn't have opportunity yet.

Yes, the company is sponsoring her on the course. They are happy to fund also AAT Level 4 but they firstly prefer she to study a Bookkeeping course to catch up the Bookkeeping department activities with full warranties.

As she has no much time to attend a presence course, she is looking for a good online option.

Hope it make sense to you.

Kind regards

 Hi

I have no idea what that means.

She needs to find the time (*).     Otherwise we could be talking as crossed purposes and just wasting time.

(*) You arent specific as to what exactly what qual she has got.  You dont say if they expect her to do this course before she starts/when she starts etc

Has she got the AAT level 3 advanced diploma?

Yes, she got her AAT Level 3 diploma last year. And yes, she started her job in that company 8 months ago. But now, they are offering her a new position in the bookkeeping department so that is the reason they are asking for an advanced bookkeeping course.

Would you be so kind to recommend an online advance bookkeeping course for her?

Thank you very much in advance.

Kind regards

AAT level 3 advanced bookkeeping sits below AAT Level 3 Diploma, so they are asking her to do a course that is below the one she has got. The Diploma covers all aspects of bookkeeping so Ive no idea why they would make such totally ridiculous demands. They and her need to get the course specs from the AAT and discuss it. She can then just revisit her existing course notes, AAT green light tests/mocks for some revision before she starts the role if there is a need.

Hi Ivan

As Joanne quite rightly says the Level 3 Diploma is above the AAT advanced certificate in bookkeeping the 3 units included in this are all covered in the Diploma which are Advanced Bookkeeping, Final Accounts Preparation and Indirect Tax (Section 3.3)

https://www.aat.org.uk/prod/s3fs-public/assets/Advanced-Certificate-Bookkeeping-Level-3-Qualification-Specification-v3-0.pdf

Just get your wife to explain this to the company and see what else they require

EDIT to allow for my poor 'gramma' biggrin (there are probably more mistakes but it is Friday)

Oh please get her to ask her own questions.   Im sure she is fully capable.

You are setting back womens emancipation by 100 years otherwise.

But at least you are polite - unlike some of the others we get on here.
