Beast from The East

Beast from the East has brought his wife and children in some parts.

Whilst Ive seen worse than this weather here in the UK, its not been like this for a few years.   We are quite lucky here with only about 5 inches at the mo (and its still snowing, well blizzarding!)

Glad I wasnt stuck on the motorway in my car for 16 hours thats for sure.

So just to say -  take care and stay warm peeps.

Thought this might bring a smile

Hi Joanne

Great picture, snowed here this morning but didn't really settle, however we do have a red weather warning in place for after 3.00pm today so will have to wait until then to see if the beast shows his face

Hi Joanne

I did build a snowman but he must have been on the razzle last night cos this is how I found him this morning.

Well the Beast certainly turned up in South Wales in the end, but he didn't come alone he must have bumped into Emma on the way!

Oh 'eck Doug! This is when you can't beat working from home, although now a few cancelled visits means it's going to be mega mad next week. I've just seen pictures of snow near Bath from family, hope it's not so bad near you!

Great snowman John. I'm off to build an igloo in my back garden, ther is enough of the white stuff although Gail, Emma's mate, is wreaking havoc.

Apart from you guys, this site is a right old yawny bore this week! As usual a few read, but don't join in. Why is everyone so bleedin miserable?

It's tempting to head off somewhere like the Brecon Beacons - I could do with some decent middle-of-nowhere pictures in the snow.

The only snag is getting there, given that the roads might be a bit iffy. My current vehicle - since 2011 - is a Landrover Freelander, but I didn't realise until a couple of years after buying it that a previous owner had converted it from 4WD to 2WD, so it's no benefit whatsoever. (Although that conversion does explain why it's surprisingly good on fuel given its size and age.)

In the meantime, I've decided to make the snow a feature of my new profile picture - although the 'snow dog' actually dates back to December 2008!

Loving the pic!

Know what you mean about getting where you can get decent pics - just relying on others. This pic attached is round the corner from me. All my Mum kept saying yesterday was 'we arent forecast to get any according to the weather maps'!!

It's funny when I consider that I popped over to the Brecons in the snow in December 09 - in my Mazda MX5. However, it's a *little* bit worse this time around!

I could go for a walk in the direction of my local woods, which is a fair old size, so still a good walk - but given that it's local and schools are off, there will likely be lots of people making the most of it. Ideally, while it doesn't matter for some, in most cases I don't want people in my pictures (or anything remotely modern like roads, walls, etc.) Hence places like the Brecons work well.

The reason is when I go out for a walk, I take photos with the view that I could potentially use them in an adventure game. I have loose ideas for several - including one that would require a good selection of wintry, snowy pictures.

Ah, sod it - I'm heading to the local woods; if I go deep enough, there will probably be fewer oiks attempting to get that far.

As usual I'm a bit late to the party.  My only excuse...well I haven't got one really other than I couldn't say no to a local business so didn't have any brain space left to join in! (It wasn't bookkeeping cry)

I did spend 2 days trying to work out how my husband could get back from Manchester to dig me a path to the freezer for 'ice & slice' for the gin biggrin  I climbed out of the window in the end!
