Paycert Training Kit

Hi,

I recently tried to buy the Paycert Training Kit from Bookcert, but they have stopped selling it.

Does anyone know where I can get a copy of this from or would someone be willing to sell me a copy of theirs?

As I've said elsewhere here the copyright notice that comes with the Paycert kit has a fairly robust copyright notice with it that suggests to me anyway that it can't be sold on. If someone could provide me with assurances that I'm wrong I'd be happy to pass a pdf version to you for a nominal sum.

Thanks for that.

The reply I got from them when they got back to me was "the PayCert Training Kit is no longer being offered by us as a product".

This would indicate to me that it is not now generally available and perhaps the copyright notice is not valid any more?

Would welcome any thoughts on the interpretation of their wording.

Hi,

I think that you may be confusing a company that owns a product ceasing to exist and a company simply no longer offering a product for sale.

simply because a company ceases to offer a product for sale does not annul existing copyright.

If you think about it there are many products that receive protection but never go into production. Anyone producing that product not under licence would be in breach even though the owner was not manufacturing the product themself.

A quick internet search shows PayCert as different products and I suspect that in bringing the product into the BookCert family of products the use of the name may have inadvertantly caused issue.

Maybe the question that you should have asked was whether the PayCert material is now incorporated in the BookCert kit even though not a seperable product? Just a thought and I genuinely don't know the answer to that but it would not surprise me if such proved to be the case... Unless of course the materials all carried the name PayCert which may prevent their sale even as part of a package.

Shaun.

Hi Shaun,

Bookcert have removed all mention of the PayCert system from their website. They used to include it in their own business kit but that has recently been deleted. The PayCert site is now inactive - www.paycert.co.uk - but only after I received emails from them explaining the above. Indeed the email address on the Bookcert site www.bookcert.com has also been inactive for a number of weeks.

Hi Ian,

It looks as though all traffic is now routed to the Bookcert site which would make sense if they've closed down the product.

The email address for BookCert should however not be down.

What makes you think that its down? Are your messages being bounced or simply disappearing?

please could you confirm that this is the email address that you have been using : info@bookcert.co.uk

Actually, if you are having difficulties your best approach may be to contact the BookCert support team on 0117 2001210

Sorry I'm not more use at the moment but if you draw a blank let me know and I'll try to escalate the issue.

kind regards,

Shaun.

Hi Shaun,

That email address has been down for the last few weeks. I sent a number of emails to it and they all bounced.

The reply I did get was from a different email address - an aol.com one.

All I'm trying to find out is if the PayCert package they used to sell is still available as it's something that I was interested in adding to the services that I offer.

Greetings all- Just so everyone is better informed as to what the copyright notice says, here it is:

Copyright Notice

contents in any form is prohibited other than the following:

use only.
You may not, except with our expressed written
permission, distribute or commercially exploit the content.

Okay, so for me, a sale or even a "gratis" passing of it to any of you appears to breach the terms.
