Kashflow vs quickbooks

I hadn't heard of Kashflow until quite recently, but have heard of Quickbooks. Looking at the websites for both of these, they both look very colourful and flashy, but, which one is best? A few potential customers are currently using SAGE, but I plan on then using their office to do their books, rather than bringing it to my office.

Any advice on either of these, or other software is gratefully received. I have ruled out SAGE mainly for cost issues, and the fact you need to upgrade each year.

Hi Carol

I use Kashflow for some of my clients and I really like it. It's very easy to use and one of my favourite aspects is that you can move items to different nominal codes really easily and when posting on invoice you can post the payment at the same time. It's very straightforward to use.

There is also a quick data entry portal where you log invoices and upload them at the end, very handy if you have large volumes.

I access it through the Accountants Orbit login which means it is really easy to switch between client and the client can be in it at the same time. I've even trained one client while we are both logged in.

I would recommend taking a free trial, do a google search for discount codes, and just try it out.

Hope that helps

Vik

Both are good Cloud solutions, Check them both out. With QuickBooks Online, they offer the software at a heavily discounted price to accountants (£4.99 per month) ...if your client went directly to them it would cost them £29pm....and free training and marketing tools for your firm. It's also free to register as a CloudProAdviser.

The software itself if really good, its easy for you/your clients to understand and more importantly they have some cool tools only for accountants. I use Kashflow and QuickBooks Online and a few others with my clients, just jump on their free training they offer, you become a certified ProAdviser and you get listed in their club so other clients can find you.

Hope that hasn't confused you in your decision! :)

Hi Carol,

I am a SAGE bod through and through but one of my clients is using Kashflow so I had to give in!  I have to say its an excellent product and does exactly what is says on the tin.  The only restriction I have found is the limitation on financial reporting.  That aside for a small business needing occasional reporting I would recommend it.

Watch this space with Kashflow though, as it has now been bought by IRIS expect the Orbit side of things to explode with new features like filing returns etc etc....

Thanks everyone for the replies. Had a call today from kashflow and I have to say I am impressed with their customer service, albeit at this stage trying to sell me something. I'll also look into QuickBooks. It never occurred to me that I could have both for different clients, but like a friend said, I am a bit dizzy

Thanks again for the opinions

Is that right? I can't see anything about being able to discount this for £4.99

yep that's right. I dont think they advertise it as its purely for accountants only. I had to call a freephone number to register on their cloudpro accountant scheme/club... then they gave me a free version for myself (which I dont use use but I have entered some info to show my clients) and they gave me the opportunity to take as many 4.99 subs for my clients I want.

@Clawz you're right, they all want accountants to become promoters of their product, it's a great time to be buyer! :)
