Quickbooks update problem

It's a long shot, but I was hoping someone might have some ideas about a problem I've got.

I've just had to buy a new laptop after the old one died. I've loaded Quickbooks onto it and it's working well with some of my backups. However, I had an update on the old laptop a few weeks ago and that update isn't loading onto the new laptop properly, so the files I used post update on the old laptop won't work. The reason given for the update failing is that the laptop's clock is wrong...but it's not! I've googled and found several posts from people asking for help with the same problem, but no answers.

I don't suppose anyone else has had this and sorted it out?

Hi Ruth,

I use QB and I didn't have that probelm when I changed Laptops 18 months ago. As far as I can remember I just took a backup from the old Laptop and then just loaded the disc onto the new one, and then I think I just did restore. Sorry can't remember exactly what I did.

The only thing I can think of, from an earlier post you said it was Pro2006, (I've got Pro2008), is it compatible with the new laptop???

I've just googled it and it says that Pro 2006 is only compatible with Windows 2000 and XP.

Sorry I'm not much help.

Amanda

Thanks for replying Amanda. I've now got QB Premier 2010 which worked fine with Windows 7 on the old laptop >.

I've had a problem with the upgrade and resolved it by deleting the old company file and then it would restore.

Well I rang Quickibooks and what they said to do was download the update from their website, then once it was on my desktop the program could install it. So it's all fixed now (and running much faster than on my old laptop, too).
