File extension for sage Instant Accounts backup

I've recently (last night) started learning Sage Instant Account and made a back up. Is the extension for this ".001" ?

Ever since I first used computers about 15 years ago I've always had that extension associated with Mastersplitter. Is this really the extension for a Sage back up?

Hi peasie...all my Sage backups end with that. i'm not technical so I don't understand these things...however sage appears to be a system that has just been added to over the years. I'm sure if they did a complete re-write rather than just adding bits it would work better and faster and the networking side would improve too!

Short answer Yes it is. Can it be changed No.

Just had a look on Ask Sage and apparently it's for floppy disc back ups which use more than one disc!!! Disc two will have the file extension .002 (Are there any floppies still actively in use?).

If you have signed up on Sage website you can access Ask Sage support pages

That's just great with the 002 and 003 etc extensions it will look identical to a file split with Mastersplitter (which funnily enough has "floppy disc size" as one of the options for splitting.

Still keep all my back ups on floppy discs in a cardboard box under the kitchen sink. biggrin

Hi Peasie,

Yes its always the .001 as said above, I back mine up to the hardrive, then a memory stick and then once a week an external hardrive.

Have you still got a PC that takes floppy discs then?

What if you have a leak under the sink?

It was referring to an old joke. When people were talking about their back up plans I said I backed mine up to floppy discs and kept them under the sink (probably the worst place I could possibly keep them).

I actually went to use a floppy the other week. My bluetooth wasn't working so couldn't send a file from the computer in the bedroom. I then realised the computer in the living room doesn't even have a floppy drive.
