Sage Bookkeepers Club

Hi there,

Is anyone a member of the Sage Bookkeepers Club?

Hi Kelly,

I looked seriously at joining a wee while back, but decided it's far too expensive for what it is.

I'd be interested to hear other peoples views as well though.

I think if you have to buy your own version of Sage software for your bookkeeping business, it seems to be a bit of a bargain, unless I'm missing something.

I was just interested to know if many of you had joined up and how you had benefited from it.

I have just bought Sage Book-keepers Club, you get Sage line 50 2009 for five clients for about £480 which i found was the cheapest way of purchasing, extra clients an extra £55 each. You can also make a bit of money in selling sage software to your clients etc (although not tried this yet). You also get sage support for a year. You have no obligations after a year to renew support or purchase updated versions. They also advertised that you will be listed on sage database if companies wish to 'find a book-keeper' but this is not up and running yet with sage.

Would be interested if anyone has sold sage software to their clients, how do you make it work. Do you give a small percentage to the client and keep a percentage for yourself. Any advice appreciated.

Hope this helps Kelly

Hi Kelly
I have bought sage bookkeepers club as it seemed a good idea at the time especially with the find a bookkeeper which would be on the website but this is not working as yet. When it comes to renewing the bookkeepers club i will certainly be shopping around as i am not sure if it is value for money but i have not looked into this in great detail.

Hi Silly Digits

Just a quick question regarding your post. when you say you have no obligation to renew support or update versions do you mean that you can continue to run the version you have got (albeit without support) for as long as you like without further payment. I assumed that if you did not renew your subscription your access to the software would cease.

Kind regards

Steve

Yes I was told that the software is yours to keep and run as long as you wish. Your support would run out after a year and I presume be no longer part of the book-keepers club. But no obligation to upgrade. If you do wish to upgrade I was told that the payment would be the same next year eg another £480.

Regards

Hi
I was told that when my year was up i would need to renew my subscription or i would not be able to use the software.I think i will be looking at alternatives as i do not think it is value for money at the moment

Thanks for your reply. Thats not what I was told by sage, something I need to clarify. If anyone else is a member of the book-keepers club, be happy to hear from you.

Hi Things might have changed with the sage bookkeepers club as it was last october when i bought mine that is why i was thinking of looking into the cost of a normal copy of sage without the bookkeepers club as i wanted to compare prices before i renew

Hi All,

I have been thinking about Sage Bookkeeping so I have just called them.

Basically its £425 for software up to 5 licences and support, use of logo, etc. To keep the support and updates to software you need to pay this amount every year. But if after 12 months you dont want to continue paying you can still use the software but do not have the support and will have to pay for newer versions.

The Sage guy was trying to push the idea of renewing every year as he said I might have clients that have newer versions....I tried to explain that I was a bookeeper and it would be unlikely they would have Sage otherwise they would be doing it themselves! I am not sure he could grasp the difference between a bookkeeper and an accountant!

Anyway hope it helps

Julie

Thanks that has put my mind at rest. Not sure if I will pay again next year and get the support & updates, see how business goes.

Thanks for all your replies, they are very helpful.  I've also looked at the Quickbook's club which offers similar benefits.

If you build up a good client base I guess it would pay for itself.

Kelly
