Really new to this

Hello all. As my choice of alias would tend to indicate, I do like things to be just so. I have reached a point where it is necessary to change careers. It's time to change a perceived vice into an asset. Bookkeeping, or one of it's many sub-sets, seems to be good for working part-time and beyond 65 when the pension is likely to be a bit tight!
I have never done anything bookkeeping-related, apart from producing informal, but still binding, quotes which our billing department had to work from.  I have done no formal study since I took my A levels over 3 decades ago!
I am a bit nervous about doing this and am keen to get it right first time. I've been browsing the web looking for distance learning. These companies are very coy about their rates and I've not been able to find a simple review site.
I'm going to need a bit of hand-holding initially and would really appreciate any advice about which company to use - or at least which to avoid.
Many thanks in anticipation.

Hi Ms

A warm welcome to the forums.smile

Finding the right tution provider is really important. Some of the cheaper ones don't come with tutor support, which can make it difficult to get through some of the more technical material. If you're planning to set up in practice make sure they have relevant knowledge in the industry. Theres been quite a few reviews in the training forum so worth looking there for feedback.

Tom

Hi Tom. Thanks for the quick response. I'll certainly give the training section a good trawl thru for ideas. MsP.
