Hi there, I have just registered and hoping I can get some advice I have completed the ACCA part 1 and am studying towards part 2 and am wondering if this would be enough to start advertising as a bookkeeper or if it would be best to study IAB/ICB qualifications first (also am not allowed to mention ACCA when advertising - is that correct)?  I have over 10 years accounts experience incl 6 months practice experience.  I know I would need to register with HMRC and get professional indemnity insurance but is there anything else I would need to do?
I am thinking of approaching local accountancy firms about the possibility of outsourcing their bookkeeping work - can anyone advise the best way to do this? also is it best to approach small/big firms? those who do/don't already offer bookkeeping services.
 Any advice would be greatly appreciated - thankyou

Hi

Given your background in accounts and your technical knowledge having studied up to ACCA level 2 you should having the experience and confidence to offer a full book-keeping service.

As a student you are not allowed to mention the ACCA in any written or verbal advertising. The ACCA does permit you to perform basic book-keeping work up to trial balance stage, including the completion of VAT returns and management accounts for internal purposes only.

Given that you would not be a full member of the ACCA you would need to register with the HMRC for money laundering purposes. It is also advisable to obtain some professional indemnity insurance as well.
