German withholding tax

I have to deal with the German tax authorities in an attempt to get them to stop taking withhokding tax for a limited company client. ive asked the accountants to quote for doing the work but they are ignoring my emails so I'm guessing they don't want the work.  Just wondering if anyone has any experience of this and any advice.  I've no idea how to price this work, don't want to use my hourly rate charge. Any ideas?

i don't speak German so the forms could be interesting, although having a German sister in law might help.

Thoughts are my own/not to be regarded as official advice, which should be sought from a suitably qualified Accountant.

Hi Cheshire I would suggest asking your client to employ a qualified translator in that field. A qualified & insured translator should stamp their work as accurate (can't remember what the legal term for this is) and they can pay for this direct and there's no comeback on you. You or the accountant can then pick up on the figures and information that comes out of this and deal with accordingly. Then I would have thought you can charge as you usually would for your involvement? Hope that helps? Mike

If you can drop me an email, I can let you have a copy of the (English page) of the form you need to complete with all the details. You then can send this to the company UK tax office, who will use the information so they can complete and certify the form the company will need for the German Tax office.

Hi Frauke
Your profile doesnt seem to have the Direct Message option but Ive used the contact form on your website so you will have my email address.

Just to clarify - once completed does this form go to Corporation Tax office in UK and then we forward to Germany once its certified? Also - do you know if such a form has to be completed for each contract (thats what Ive heard!) or just a one off?

Very much appreciate your assistance on this one - thank you
