SAGE Instant Accounts 2011

Having a nightmare.  Have inadvertently restored a Line 50 backup onto SAGE Instant Accounts and now I can't access Instant.  Help!

Hi Karen,

Can you describe what happens when you try to open Sage Instant in a little more detail?

Hi again,

The Company (no extension) file in C:\ProgramData\Sage\Accounts\2011 records the data path for Sage Instant to use. If your problem is just that you can't log in, it might be that the company you are trying to access is a different one from what you think it is and, therefore, you're supplying the wrong login credentials. You might find it useful to open the ACCDATA\COMDA.DTA file, in the data path indicated in the Company file, in Notepad and confirm the Company name you are logging in to towards the start of the first line. Make sure to exit Notepad without saving the file to avoid the possibility of corrupting the data.

If that doesn't give you any joy, you could rename the Company (no extension) file in C:\ProgramData\Sage\Accounts\2011 to something like Company.saf. Sage should give you the options of (1) setting up a new company; (2) opening existing company data; or, (3) restoring from a previous backup of your company data. Hopefully option 3 would get you up and running again by creating a new Company (no extension) file pointing to the data supplied in your backup.

Good luck!

The other option is to copy the demo data over the existing data
