Any book recommendations for ICB level 3 self study?

I have David Cox Business Accounts but not sure if that is enough on it's own.

Personally - I use Frank Woods Business Accounting 1 - its fantastic and used it all the way through my ICB manual exams. You can buy a paper copy on Amazon for a few pounds or download a PDF copy for free.

just trying to get my head around this. The level 3 now is the old level 2 is that right?

If thats the case then try the BPP AAT study and revision texts for units 1-4 (although you would only be covering units 1-3).

When I did the old level II all that I used was the BPP ACCA text for paper 1.1.

At the end of the day no matter what colour they paint their qualifications bookkeeping is the same no matter how they dress it up.

I think that Trevor is refering to this book

www.amazon.co.uk/Business-Accounting-Volume-Myaccountinglab-Access/dp/0273759280/ref=sr_1_1

which is the one that all accountants work out when they qualified by which version of it they own (volumes 1 & 2, not just volume 1).

On here though the Frank Woods book that is often raved about as an alternative to David Cox is this one :

www.amazon.co.uk/Book-keeping-Accounts-Frank-Wood/dp/0273773062/ref=sr_1_4

The above both point to current versions but as with many books in this field you really don't need the current one as the two things that never change are bookkeeping and management accounting.

Financial accounting books on the other hand have a much shorter shelf life and tax books... Well, they should come with a timestamp as it seems that they expire between ordering them and delivery.

Good luck with your studies Simone,

kind regards,

Shaun.

Yes Shaun - I did mean the first link. I found that link 2 (Frank and Sheila) didn't go deep enough, to fully cover the ICB syllabus (ie partnership accounts).
