End of Year - Basic PAYE Tools

Hi All,

I've got myself in a bit of a pickle! I have done the P35 and P14 direct through the HMRC website as when i was looking to do this on the Basic PAYE could not find anything! Since i have realised i needed to download another version (which confuses me as it does say it will automatically update??)

Anyway so i have downloaded the latest version but i cant do a payroll for this year as i havent done year end through it? Trouble is i have already done it, and dont want to submit twice etc

Just for info - the only thing that was on the return for 2011-2012 was CIS payment and deductions, there were no wages paid last year.

I hope that makes sense, any idea how i can get round this as i need to do a payroll now!! rahh

Thanks in Advance!

Hi

You can do year end on Basic Tools without submitting anything to HMRC!

Hi Shorox,

So we can get you up and running, can I just ask for a bit of clarification - have you submitted and received confirmation for the 2011/12 Employers End of Year P35 + P14s ?

If yes, are you happy that the year is all finalised and there are no Benefits in Kind or other matters to attend to?

As you now appear to be paying wages, it might be an idea to spend £50 or so on software. Either of the following will guide you through the procedures much better than the HMRC tools :-

http://www.12pay.co.uk/Features.aspx

http://www.moneysoft.co.uk/payroll-software/payroll-manager-features.htm

Also, you won't need to go very far for help as Tom from 12Pay posts here regularly and there are many experienced users and posts already on this site if you want to use the Search button before posting a query.

There are other Revenue approved softare products available but the above two are almost exclusively recommended on here for ease of use and price.

Let us know how you get on.
Regards,
Tim

Dear helz, Please advice how to complete the year end 2012, without actually submitting? I have the same problem as the above user.

When you go through the process of doing the end of year return in the Basic Tools, it
eventually says "do you want to file online" ? Answer no, and you'll be able to start
2012/2013.

I have also filed the P35 and P14 direct through the HMRC website and cannot start a new year on the PAYE Tools.

I did as you suggested and tried to file the EOY returns via PAYE Tools and cancel when prompted, but it didn't ask me to confirm whether I wished to go ahead and just filed a second return followed by an error message that they had already received a return.

I still can't use PAYE Tools to start a new tax year and enter employee pay details.furious Guess I will have to remove the software and try re-installing.

UPDATE...

I had version 3 of PAYE tools and had to upgrade to version 4 manually - even though I had automatic updates enabled. I then had to go through the rigmarole of filling in the forms again and going through the submit online process which eventually prompted me as to whether I wanted to submit online.
