Should VAT be charged on a credit note for damages?

I wounder if anyone can help?

1. An invoice was raised.

2. Accident happened to the clients goods and a credit has been requested for the amount that the repair company is charging which excludes VAT.

For example:

Invoice raised: 420 + VAT of 84 = 504

Clients Repair Company: 295 + No VAT = 295

Credit to be raised: 295 + ? = ?

When I raise the credit should I include VAT ?
