you would think that it should wouldn't you as AAT gives exemption from F1, F2 and F3.

The actual rules are that you can become an AAT full member without taking the Accounting Qualification (AQ) if you are exempt from or have completed the following units of the ACCA Fundamentals (current syllabus, introduced December 2007):

- F1 Accountant in Business

- F2 Management Accounting

- F3 Financial Accounting

- F7 Financial Reporting

Plus at least one of the following units:

- F6 Taxation

- F8 Audit and Assurance

You must provide a reference, agree to uphold high standards of professional conduct, and commit to continuing professional development. You will also need to:

• show that you've gained one year's relevant work experience (or the equivalent part time)
• provide employer-verified confirmation of proven competence in specific areas
• complete an online professional competence test (PCT) on key aspects of financial accounting, professional ethics and health and safety.
