AAT ABC Book Keeping Course
 

 

Hi all

I have studied the AAT award in book keeping and am about to sit the exam.

When I pass I am wondering if I can then progress directly onto level 3 of the AAT qualification should I decide to do so? I'm working as a book keeper now and use Quickbooks, so I have useful work experience.

Also, it's clear from my work experience that being able to run payroll is a useful skill. I would be grateful for any recommendations of good, practical payroll courses which I could study at home, as I did with the AAT book keeping course.

hi Paul,

I think thatcourse is a level one course, and the main AAT qualification starts at level 2, so im not so sure you could start on level 3 :(

This is the course I have studied lately:

Described as " AAT Level 2 Award in Bookkeeping (QCF)". So is that equivalent to a level 2 AAT ? There certainly looks to be alot of overlap with AAT level2.

Also it says:
"ABC covers part of the content of the AAT Accounting Qualification, so you may be able to go straight onto that qualification at the mid level (subject to agreement with your college)."

But just wondered if folk have, in practice, gone directly to level 3 of the main AAT after doing this course.

Hi Palawan,

before a training provider will take you I think that you will find that they want you to do the skills test to determin the level that they would consider taking you at.

The AAT ABC bookkeeping course will have given you strong foundations upon which to build so when you take the test you may find that provided that you have retained a lot of the knowledge you will be accepted to start your studies at level III.

Equally, if you do not do so well then they may expect you to start at a lower level and redo some of the earlier studies.

I'm sure that you'll be fine but before you do the test (which you only get one go at) it might be worth revising your AAT ABC bookkeeping course or even doing the revision companion for the AAT foundation level units 1-4.

If you're a AAT student member and have access to MyAAT, then you can try the AAT Green Light for the various Level 2 courses (in particuarly the 2 basic accounting courses) and see how you do. If you do okay, then I suggest you'll be okay going to Level 3.
