Officially AAT level 3 qualified
 

Hiya folks,

Just wanted to bang my drum as i have received confirmation of being deemed confident in the Spreadsheet software module of AAT level 3 (my final exam). It has taken a little over 7 weeks to receive the results but this was down to an uploading error on my part. I wasn't too confident once i realised this problem a couple of weeks after sitting the assesment and notified  Kaplan straight away. It seems that the assesor has been more than fair and between Kaplan and the assesment people they have gone out of their way to recover my data. My real problem was that on the 28th of Nov we received some seriously bad news about my Father-in-laws health and i spent the evening in hospital. My sitting was for 9.30 on the 29th Nov.  I had 6 good exam sittings upto this point and so wasn't too mithered about having to resit especially given the circumstances but a competent result will do me just fine lol. This being my last exam i am now ready to tackle level 4. I had to get the hospital thing off my chest as it is a genuine excuse for not being 100% but i haven't mentioned this to Kaplan or the tutors as they must hear all sorts of excuses, in fact i have read some of the comments on the AAT forums about students filing complaints. I am the sort of person who thinks that this only wastes time and the best possible answer is to crack on and get a resit as soon as you are comfortable. I know i have previously posted on here that my level 3 was complete and upto a point i thought it was, then the doubts crept in but i wasn't ammending my post before i received my result. Would i have let you know if i had failed? hehe probably, because i just like chatting to you guys and gals. By the way everyone i know and love are still in bed so that makes you people the first that i have shared this exciting (for me) news with. I have said it before and i'll say it again, I CANNOT thank you lot for the help and guidance i have received from this forum.

I started Financila Statements on Tuesday Amanda, there seems to be an awful lot of information to memorise. I was looking at hopefully complete level 4 within 12 months but the course seems geared toward people already working in accounts so i'll give myself 18 months.

H Neil,

No I don't think its too bad, you need to get a job in accounts somewhere just for some experience. I'm sure you will get your head round it. Just don't leave it do long, I did Level 3 (was Intermediate then) a few years ago.

I should have got on and done mine sooner, but work (self-employed) is getting in the way!

My problem is leaving a well paid job for a lower paid one. I know i will have to take the leap but it's a bit scary. I am gaining quite a lot of interest from my C.V now i have included AAT so i'm kind of waiting now to find a job either right on my doorstep or that pays i little extra. (not extra on top of what i currently earn but extra towards the norm for Accounts Assistant positions in my area). I am an awkward bugger sometimes lol.

Thank you all for your kind words and praise, I'm off home now for a little tea party. I'm going to reward myself with a big bowl of trifle!

I can't wait to pay my subs to ACCA Shaun, It's probably the only fee i will ever enjoy paying lol.

Studying at this level has given me a greater grasp of how clever everybody here is and i tip my hat to all who are qualified and all those studying.

The only time i have been labelled a "gross" anything was when people were generally disgusted.

1 book at a time. There's lots to learn but lots of fun to be had too.

If you haven't decided on an order in which to study the modules may i suggest:-

AP1
AP2
Costs and Revenues
Cash Management
Spreadsheet software (the results of which can take over 6 weeks to receive and so i would suggest not leaving this module until last)
Then either Ethics (if you haven't gained an exemption from this module) and ITX in no particular order as they are very short modules
and can be completed in a very short length of time.

I left Spreadsheets until last as i thought it would be a bit of fun after the others but awaiting the results was a nightmare. Thats the only
complaint i have with the course and that was of my own choosing.

I've read that Costs and Revenues has the highest rate of failure for all of the AAT modules and would suggest knowing the study material inside
out for this one. Although you won't be examined on every part covered in the study text, you never know which questions you will be dumped with
in the exam. I wish the exams were like the written papers i've taken before where previous years papers have been very similar to what you will be
sitting and if you can do one you can do them all lol.

Well done Neil, I'm now officially jealous, started mine about a year and a half ago and managed AP1, so I made it my new resolution to try again, so since jan 1st i've managed AP2 and passed cash management today, dreading costs and revenues though evileye

Hi Neil

I started with Premier, but in fairness used them on AP1, found their coursework overly complicated, so decided to self teach.

I've not even looked at level4, I keep hearing "should be working in an accounts environment" so I need to have a good look at it.

Good luck with it, it will be interesting to see how you get on with it, I would imagine there is lots of reading reading reading cry
