Breakdown cover is it included in the 45p per mile?

Hi,

I have a client who is a LTD co and she uses her own car and claims the 45p per mile, I have a breakdown cover amongst the invoices would this be included in the 45p p/m or can she claim separately for this?

I know the 45p covers things like wear and tear and also insurance.

Thanks,

I believe the 45p per mile covers everything about the personal car expenses.

Hi Amanda,

Fabs is completely right.

Think of the 45p/25p as the company paying compensation to the car owner for them using their own car whilst on business.

Absolutely all costs associated with the running of the car are included in the 45p/25p (Insurance, tax, maintenance, AA Membership, Petrol, servicing, etc. etc.).

The one thing that is associated with the car but would still be allowable is the parking for business purposes.

Hi Amanda,

yes.

Might also be worth educating the directors for their future reference.
