CIMA

Hello There:)

I'm currently studying AAT and thinking about what to do next- I'm interested in CIMA.

Do you need to this as part of your job or can you do this by home study?

Also, how long does that course usually take?

Many Thanks

Zak

Hi Zak, biggrin

The coursework and exams can be done as home study or in class or online your choice. You will also need to provide proof of your experience. Check out the CIMA website. It has all the details.

Regards,

James

Hi Zak,

don't forget to read PQ magazine articles in relation to the current situation between CIMA and the other professional bodies.

In the February issue of PQ the front page headlines are all about the battle lines being drawn up between the CIMA and ACCA as ACCA drops CIMA as an equivalent qualification for exemptions purposes.

To read the full article / magazine cut and paste this into your browsers address bar :

http://edition.pagesuite-professional.co.uk/launch.aspx?referral=mypagesuite&pnum=&refresh=B0q62H1op7K0&EID=ce9a8c19-e091-45d1-b1e3-b682256771ce&skip=

As an alternative ACCA covers absolutely everything that CIMA does and also can be taken via home study.

The big downside to ACCA is that regulation 8 is less forgiving of self employment than CIMA.

I'm not saying don't do CIMA which is an excellent quality qualification. I'm just saying that you need to make a decision knowing all of the facts before signing up for something of this magnitude that may no longer give the exemptions that it once did.

welcome to the forum and hope that helps,

kind regards,

Shaun.

P.S. my only link to the ACCA is that I am an ACCA student (finalist).

More CIMA news (on a more positive note for the qualification this time).

PQ have given the good news for CIMA of an increase in their membership this year :

India has increased by 38%

Malaysia has increased by 89%

Students members in Russia have tripled.

(Is it just me or do those figures mean absolutely nothing to anyone else either! 38% of what? 89% of what? 3 times what?).

Obviously leaving the CCAB and joining up with the Americans directly was a good move for CIMA... I expect to see massive increases in the number of work visa applications for America from India, Malaysia and Russia imminently!!!

 Someone say Cornwall?

I always thought I lived in the west country. biggrin but does explain I why I have an affinity with the banjo, and close relatives

South to me is the tri county area. Surrey/ Sussex/ Hampshire. Although it is all relevant because we are south of the North Pole

G'd ol' redneck f'lk down 'ere
