John the bookkeeper here with question re how to use Basic PAYE in context of redundancy.
Paye basic user manual re leavers says leaver process does not apply to redundancy, but does not appear to contain a section covering it. How do I enter redundancy in Basic PAYE please (if not, what do I do instead)?
Context
Husband & wife limited.
Wife is classed as employee paid monthly salary (below NI threshold). Husband is sole shareholder & director at £0 pay (takes dividends only) Husband was removed from payroll 2 years ago, so free payroll software was "required". Hence switch to Paye Basic as she is the only employee.
The husband is retiring, and the company is being dissolved.
I believe the wife is entitled to statutory redundancy.
It would be approx £1,100 which would obviously trigger NI if I entered it as a "simple" leaver.
The payroll will obviously cease, so I must do something...?
(Accountant resents bookkeepers and will not help, but "loves" pointing out errors)
